The War of The Vendee!!

Normally I post things, on this blog, that are strictly music.  But, not this time, although the orchestral score to "The War of The Vendee" was composed by Kevin Kaska, which was very beautifully done!!

I've seen this movie twice -- both times on EWTN and within just a few days of each other. It is very superbly written by Jim Morlino and very superbly acted by the cast entirely made up of young Catholics -- 250, to be exact!!

You all have to see this, whether it's re-aired on EWTN again, sometime in the future, or if you purchase a DVD through the production company's web site here:  http://www.navispictures.com/Default.asp

I just can't speak highly enough about this movie. Not only is it Catholic, it's also historical!!

Gustavo Dudamel News!!

Gustavo Dudamel is an absolutely F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C symphony orchestra Conductor!! He's probably one of the top, if not the top, best Conductor in the world!! As odd as this may sound to state this -- I would LOVE to see HIM in concert!! I wouldn't go to the concert to see and hear the orchestra -- well, all right; to hear the orchestra, yes -- I'd go to the concert to see HIM!! And, I would LOVE to meet him, too, and get his autograph, as well!!

Anyway, here's a bit of recent news about him:  http://gustavodudamel.com/news

Tenor Thomas Elwin!!

ThomasElwinpic

After listening to every one of his SoundCloud tracks, all I can say is one word:  B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!! In fact, it's perfectly beautiful!! From "Kuda Kuda" all the way down through the last track on the list, his beautiful singin' just made my heart react very beautifully, which he is among only a handful of singers/musicians who have made my heart react this way!!

So, just click on this link thingy here to hear the beautiful singing that I listened to:  https://soundcloud.com/thomaselwin
And, while you're at it, please go check out his web site here:  http://www.thomaselwin.com/welcome/4575543018

I don't see anything about him sellin' a CD.  Perhaps that will be something he will consider -- it should be something for him to consider, anyway, a - hem!!

Very, very, beautifully done, Tom!! Please keep up this beautiful singin' and God bless you!!!

J.S. Bach: St Matthew Passion!!

Evangelist - tenor Nicholas Hurndall Smith
Nicholas Hurndall Smith

St Matthew Passion
23 November 2013, Durham Cathedral

A complete performance, in German, of Bach's great retelling of Christ's trial and crucifixion. Bach's music draws every single person, performers and audience alike, into the heart of the story, and so we will be taking it to the very centre of Durham Cathedral, with the audience in the nave and transepts, drawing everyone together. We will be joined by outstanding young soloists from the North East and the chamber choir of Durham Johnston School, along with professional soloists Nicholas Hurndall Smith and Richard Strivens, and a fully professional period instrument orchestra, made up of some of the UK's leading period players.  (http://www.durham-singers.org/st-matthew-passion.html)

"The Credo" and "Jesus, My Lord, My God, My All" (The Offertory)!!

I just filmed this video during The Latin Tridentine Mass earlier today, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in downtown Toledo, Ohio. I took this video on my regular camera -- not a video camera -- and so the quality is not very good. But, for those of you, who have never been to my beloved parish Church, you get the idea.

The celebrant of this Latin Tridentine Mass is Father Rafal Pokrywinski, who is not our Pastor or our Associate Pastor.  He's a visiting Priest, from Poland, who has served our beloved parish Church since the beginning of July, 2013, while our Pastor has spent this same amount of time in Poland. This is Father Pokrywinski's last Latin Tridentine Mass at our beloved parish, as he returns back to his homeland at the beginning of October.

Here is the video!!  Please enjoy!!

God bless YOU, Father Pokrywinski!!  It was truly a blessing having you serve our beloved parish!!

London Symphony Orchestra/Gianandrea Noseda Verdi Rigoletto (Concert Performance)!!

The London Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 2013/14 season with Verdi’s Rigoletto, a gripping opera starring a sharp-tongued jester and a womanising Duke, who spin a web of corruption and deception.
Gianandrea Noseda conducts, following three weeks of critically acclaimed performances with the LSO at the Aix-en-Provence Festival.

'Noseda brings thrilling momentum to the opera’s powerful melodrama’.

The Tenors Sing The US National Anthem at Seattle Seahawks!!

Yes, The Tenors did sing The U.S. National Anthem at the Seattle Seahawks football game . . . and the game, itself, was televised; but not the beloved Tenors!! By now -- and certainly after this experience -- I think most of us Tenors fans have come to realize that if we want to see the beloved Tenors sing The U.S. National Anthem, for any sports game, whether it's televised or not, we actually have to GO to the game to watch, and listen, to them sing!! Being that most of us Tenors fans could probably care less about the sports games themselves, we are grateful to be able to resort to youtube in times like this!!

Hopefully there will be a full version of The Tenors singing The U.S. National Anthem in Seattle on youtube. But, we are certainly blessed that they have shared this little clip with of us of them singin' The U.S. National Anthem in Seattle. So, please enjoy!!

Jonathan Estabrooks Songs!!

Very pleasant to listen to!! Most of these songs made my heart react a bit beautifully!! My fave songs on here are: "Come What May" (definitely), "Screwed On Wrong" (that one has a sense of humor), and "Because We Believe" (I've heard that one sung before by The Tenors and I know other artists sing it, too).

So, here's the link to listen to all 12 songs:
